Johann Porter
GR II Flight Instructor
I Completed my commercial pilots license in 2000 and Initial GR III instructor rating in 2001.
I was employed as a flight instructor at a Gauteng based ATO from 2001 to 2003, then got an opportunity to do survey flying on contract on the C208 Caravan. During this time I kept my Grade II instructors rating current and did freelance instruction for local flying schools.
In 2006 I did a B1900 rating and proceeded to do local freelance charters for several charter companies based in JHB and Lanseria.
Instruction was always my passion, and in 2008 I was offered a CFI position at an ATO in the Gauteng area. I Completed my ATP license in 2012 and continued freelance charter flying and instruction.
In 2018 I got an opportunity to fly the B1900 on contract and then was offered a local airline position and from there I went back on contract where I was appointed as a B1900 captain.
My family and I moved from Gauteng to the George area and I was very fortunate and blessed to be offered a job as a grade II flight instructor at FTC George. I am excited and thankful for this new chapter and looking forward to the challenge.
